Gather: Notes on an autumn table

2022-09-30

Boost your happiness this autumn with our FREE in-season dessert recipe, and see our simple steps for creating the perfect autumn table spread.

Step 1: Visit the market

Whether you are planning a Sunday dinner with family and friends, or just want to stroll around taking in the crisp day, the market is the place to be.

Seasonal favourites are often the most fresh when bought here, and are bursting with immune system-boosting nutrients. For example, butternut squash, mushrooms, and leafy greens like kale are all packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Step 2: Decorate your table

Your treasures from the market can easily be brought together to create your very own unique tablescape.

Start by decorating with rich-toned flowers and napkins to add splashes of autumn colour. Add simple cream plates and gold cutlery to add a more luxe feel. To counterbalance the warm colours in the flowers, why not create a centerpiece out of white or amber coloured candles, to complete your cozy mood.

Step 3: Bake an autumnal treat

A simple but warming treat for the autumn season, we hope you like our deconstructed apple pie recipe. Serves 2-3 people.

Ingredients:
3 Red Apples
50g Butter
50g White Chocolate
1/2dl Sugar
2 Tablespoon of Cinnamon
5 Digestive Biscuits
Hazelnuts
Sea
Buckthorn (Or other tart berry)
Vanilla Ice Cream

Method Preheat your oven to 200 degrees celsius. Slice the apples thin and put them in an oven dish. Add butter, sugar and cinnamon and mix everything. In a separate oven safe dish add your Sea Buckthorn or prefered berries. Put both dishes in the oven for about 10-15 minutes.

Grate the white chocolate and when the apples look almost ready in the oven add the chocolate on top and keep in the oven for a few more minutes. Toast the hazelnuts in a pan and chop them up.

Put the digestive biscuits in a blender or break them up by hand to a crumb. When everything is ready in the oven, place a bed of biscuit-crumb at the bottom of a plate and add the warm apples on top. Add a big spoon of vanilla ice cream and top it off with the tart berries and hazelnuts.
